What We Do
What’s On

Services
We meet on Sunday mornings at 10.30am at our Castle Street site and also have a satellite service running at the Hub in Jubilee Gardens, where there is a more informal, café-style approach.
Both services include times of worship, prayer, reflection and listen to the same talk. Sometimes we hold joint services at Castle Street instead of running our Hub Service, so check out our calendar for more info.
Home Groups
We believe that it takes more than just Sunday meetings to build a community that reflects the love of Jesus. For this reason we provide opportunities to get together informally during the week, normally in someone’s home. Home groups are intended for Christians who are an integral part of our own church community, they are part of people’s covenant commitment to the church; a place to deepen our mutual Christian fellowship, provide prayer support and to encourage more in-depth bible study.

Children
Mini Musical Mayhem
The Music Playgroup runs on Fridays from 9:30–11:00am during term time. The sessions include toys, Bible stories, and a music slot.
Sundays
On Sundays, we run Community Kids for children aged 3–11. The children gather together to have fun and make friends, hear about the Bible and do lots of fun activities.
Messy Church
Messy Church values are about being Christ-centred, for all ages, based on creativity, hospitality and celebration.
Messy Church happens once a term and we love to gather together as families to share crafts, games, songs, a Bible story and a buffet tea.
Family Hub Group
The Family Hub group aims to create a space where families with primary-aged children (or younger) can connect, build supportive relationships, pray for one another, and show our children what extended family, community, and the love of Christ look like. They aim is to meet once a month on a Sunday afternoon and have recently enjoyed forest school, a picnic, walks, and a movie afternoon – simple opportunities to grow friendships and share life together.
Young People
Youth (ages 11–18) is all about building community, growing in faith, and having fun together!
We meet regularly throughout the week:
- Wednesday evenings – Small Group for Bible study, prayer, and big conversations.
- Friday nights – Youth Club, packed with games, fun, and friendship as well as a time to reflect.
- Sunday mornings – gathering to learn, worship, and grow together.

This year we’re entering a new season, where our young people are helping shape what youth

We believe our young people are not just the church of tomorrow but an integral part of the church today.

Women’s and Men’s Groups
The Women’s and Men’s Groups meet independently once every month to share breakfast together; meeting on the first and last Saturdays of the month respectively.
These breakfasts usually take place at the Temeraire, Saffron Walden and are a perfect way to mingle with and get to know others outside the formal setting of church services or other set groups; the emphasis focusing on building friendships and introducing new people to the church community. People arrive anytime in the morning from 9.00am and can order anything from a full breakfast to just a coffee.
Please see our Calendar to check dates, times and places.
Walden Well-being Walk-In
A drop-in for those with mental health issues. Do stop by on the first Thursday of the month from 10 am to 12 noon.

In the marketplace
On Saturday mornings during the summer, we run a stall close to the Marketplace displaying the message “Listen Pray Hope”. We have the opportunity to pray for passers-by who approach us, to listen to what God might have to say to them and to share our faith. Do say hello if you are in town at the weekend!
See our events calendar for dates.

Alpha Courses
From time to time we host an Alpha course, the well-known discovery course that caters both for those with no Christian knowledge at all, and also for those looking to learn more about the faith. These exist to provide an informal, welcoming and above all, open environment where anyone can come to find out about Christianity. It provides a space for people to ask questions, challenge assertions, and explore for themselves what it could mean to follow Jesus. Each session starts with an informative video, followed by free discussion. No questions are ruled out, and the format allows time to pursue questions or topics of particular relevance to the participants. The number of sessions and the length of each one will be tailored to those attending.
If you would be at all interested in attending this course, do email pastor@waldencommunity.org.uk to express your interest.
