Today was our annual Covenant Service, led by Jonathan, in which Rachel presented our focus for the coming year. After a year based on strengthening the church and preparing for growth, this year the focus has shifted to our active participation with God in the areas to which he leads us. While God’s grace is freely given, we must be willing to put in the effort to work alongside Him.
Throughout scripture, there is a clear pattern of grace and effort working together. Key passages illustrating this are found in 2 Kings 3 and 4, where God blesses the efforts of His people when they step out in faith.
In her sermon, Rachel stressed the need for the church to prepare for growth through active participation and commitment. She warned against apathy and encouraged members to pray passionately, support God’s work, and be increasingly active in their personal spiritual lives and in the church family.
